Industry: Cosmetics & Personal Care
Location: Saudi Arabia
Application: Handmade Soap & Bath Bomb Product Development
Solution: Laboratory Layout Planning, Epoxy Resin Worktops, Laboratory Furniture, Safety Equipment & Benchtop Instruments
The client is a personal care product manufacturer in Saudi Arabia specializing in handmade soaps, bath bombs, and related bath products.
To support product development and routine formulation work, the client planned a dedicated laboratory with designated areas for soap preparation, mixing, product handling, and bath bomb storage.
The client provided an initial room layout identifying key functional zones, including the soap tank, soap-making area, and bath bomb storage area.
Based on this layout, Vitallab developed a coordinated laboratory furniture and equipment plan to make better use of the available space while supporting daily product development activities.
The laboratory needed to accommodate different activities within one organized environment, from ingredient preparation and mixing to product handling and storage.
The main requirements included:
Organizing the soap-making and mixing areas
Providing suitable work surfaces for formulation experiments
Integrating electrical outlets and water access
Allocating practical storage for raw materials and samples
Providing emergency eyewash equipment
Supplying laboratory instruments for routine formulation work
Rather than supplying individual furniture items separately, Vitallab coordinated the workbenches, storage cabinets, safety equipment, and laboratory instruments around the client's proposed layout.

A central laboratory bench was incorporated into the layout to provide a dedicated workspace for formulation experiments and routine preparation tasks.
The bench included electrical outlets and a small sink, bringing power and water access closer to the working area.
This arrangement supports convenient operation of benchtop instruments while providing access to water for appropriate laboratory cleaning and preparation tasks.
Side benches were arranged along the laboratory walls to provide additional work surfaces for ingredient preparation, equipment placement, and other routine laboratory activities.
The layout helped separate work areas while maintaining practical access to the main laboratory workspace.
Storage cabinets were included to help organize laboratory supplies, formulation ingredients, utensils, and testing accessories.
By allocating storage alongside the working areas, the design supports a more orderly laboratory environment and helps keep work surfaces available for active experiments.

The laboratory workbenches were specified with epoxy resin worktops selected for their resistance to a broad range of laboratory chemicals, including many acids and alkalis, subject to the chemical concentration, temperature, and exposure conditions.
For soap and bath bomb development, work surfaces may encounter formulation ingredients, cleaning agents, and different mixtures during routine testing.
The epoxy resin worktops provide a durable, easy-to-clean working surface suitable for many laboratory applications.
Material selection was considered alongside the client's intended laboratory activities, helping align the work surfaces with practical cleaning and maintenance requirements.
An emergency eyewash station was included in the laboratory plan to support emergency response where eye exposure to hazardous substances is possible.
Its final location should remain accessible and comply with the applicable project safety requirements.
The central bench combined a small sink with electrical outlets to support the client's equipment arrangement and daily workflow.
Planning these utilities alongside the furniture helps reduce layout conflicts and provides a more coordinated working environment.

In addition to laboratory furniture, Vitallab supplied commonly used laboratory instruments to support the client's product development activities.
The equipment package included:
Magnetic stirrer — for mixing suitable liquid formulations.
Hot plate — for controlled heating of compatible materials.
Overhead stirrer — for mechanical mixing of formulations requiring a suitable impeller and adjustable stirring conditions.
These instruments provide options for different mixing and heating tasks during soap and bath product development. Final equipment selection should reflect the formulation's viscosity, temperature requirements, batch size, and operating procedures.
Combining furniture and benchtop instruments through one coordinated supply arrangement also helps the client plan the laboratory as a functional workspace rather than a collection of separate products.
To support the project from planning through implementation, Vitallab prepared several types of technical documents based on the client's room layout and laboratory requirements.
The documentation included:
Laboratory layout drawings — showing furniture positions and functional zoning.
3D rendering images — helping the client visualize the proposed laboratory before production.
Furniture drawings — detailing the configuration and dimensions of the workbenches and storage units.
Installation drawings — supporting on-site furniture assembly and placement.
Providing these documents helped the client review the proposed arrangement, understand the furniture configuration, and prepare for installation.
The coordinated drawings also helped communicate how the central bench, wall benches, storage cabinets, and utility points would work together within the available room.
Through layout-based planning, customized laboratory furniture, chemical-resistant worktops, and coordinated equipment supply, Vitallab helped the Saudi client develop a practical laboratory environment for handmade soap and bath bomb product development.
The solution brought together:
Dedicated soap-making and formulation work areas
Central and side laboratory benches
Epoxy resin work surfaces
Organized storage cabinets
Emergency eyewash provision
Common laboratory mixing and heating instruments
Design, rendering, and installation documentation
By combining furniture, equipment, and technical planning, Vitallab provided a coordinated solution tailored to the client's intended laboratory activities.
